What they need
About the Role
The Warehouse Manager is a key leadership role responsible for managing and optimising all warehouse functions within our Auckland Flow Control distribution centre in Mt Wellington. Reporting to the COO, you will lead the warehouse team to ensure the safe, accurate and efficient movement of product into, within and out of the facility.
A major focus of the role is embedding warehouse digitisation and disciplined system use. You will ensure barcoding scanning processes are consistently followed, data is accurate, and the warehouse management system supports real-time inventory visibility, location control and efficient order fulfilment. You will also optimise workflows within a high-volume facility while maintaining strong safety, quality and customer service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Drive a safety-first culture and ensure all team members follow Asmuss health and safety requirements, site procedures and material-handling controls.
Lead day-to-day warehouse operations to achieve service, productivity, inventory, cost and quality targets in a high-volume order environment.
Champion warehouse digitisation, including effective use of barcoding, handheld scanners and the warehouse management system across receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, packing and dispatch.
Maintain high standards of scanning compliance, transaction accuracy and inventory traceability, addressing process gaps and recurring errors quickly.
Optimise product flow, storage locations and picking paths within a diverse warehouse layout, ensuring safe operation and efficient use of available warehouse capacity.
Manage a constant flow of inwards goods, ensuring products are receipted, labelled, scanned, located and made available accurately and on time.
Plan labour and daily priorities to manage order peaks, urgent requirements and changing customer demand without compromising accuracy or safety.
Build an engaged, accountable team that works collaboratively and is trained to use systems, scanning equipment and standard warehouse processes correctly.
Monitor operational performance and use system data to identify bottlenecks, inventory issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, stock integrity, equipment care and operational discipline across the warehouse.
About You
10 years+ experience leading a large or complex warehouse, distribution centre or similar operation, ideally involving heavy or long products.
Previous hands-on experience with warehouse digitisation, barcoding and handheld scanning is essential. You will understand how to embed scanning discipline and system-led processes across a warehouse team.
Proven experience managing high-volume order throughput, competing priorities and service expectations in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Practical experience operating within, or managing, a diverse warehouse layout, including location management, replenishment, pick-path efficiency and safe equipment movements.
Strong working knowledge of warehouse management systems, inventory controls, cycle counting and stock accuracy practices.
Demonstrated leadership capability, with the confidence to set clear expectations, coach performance and build team accountability.
Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use operational data to improve workflow and productivity.
A sound understanding of warehouse safety requirements and material-handling risks, particularly in a heavy-goods environment.
Customer-focused, detail-oriented and comfortable using digital systems for inventory tracking, reporting and communication.
