Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Setup and Project Management
- Lead the warehouse start-up project from initial setup through stable daily operations.
- Develop the warehouse layout, storage-location strategy, material flow, staging areas, shipping and receiving processes, and safety standards.
- Implement and maintain an inventory-management system.
- Establish item master data, inventory locations, labeling standards, receiving procedures, transfer processes, cycle-count programs, and inventory-reporting requirements.
- Create standard operating procedures for receiving, storage, inventory control, plant transfers, order fulfillment, shipping, company-driver deliveries, returns, and damaged goods.
Team Leadership and Transportation
- Supervise, train, schedule, and support two Warehouse Workers; establish daily priorities and maintain a safe, accountable team environment.
- Coordinate, schedule, and supervise the Company Truck Driver’s daily work, including raw-material transfers to the production plant, finished-goods transfers to the warehouse, and occasional customer deliveries.
- Plan efficient delivery and transfer routes, loading schedules, delivery windows, and vehicle utilization in coordination with production, customer service, and customers.
- Confirm that the Company Truck Driver has accurate delivery paperwork, load information, equipment, and customer instructions before departure.
- Monitor completion of transfers and deliveries; address delays, missed appointments, damaged goods, delivery exceptions, and proof-of-delivery documentation.
Daily Warehouse Operations
- Manage receiving, storage, picking, staging, loading, shipping, and housekeeping activities.
- Coordinate raw-material transfers from the warehouse to the production plant and finished-goods transfers from the plant to the warehouse using the Company Truck Driver and, when needed, third-party carriers.
- Maintain accurate inventory through timely system transactions, location control, cycle counts, reconciliation, and investigation of discrepancies.
- Process customer orders for shipment, including order review, picking, packing, labeling, staging, loading, carrier handoff, and shipment confirmation.
- Prepare, verify, and retain all shipping and receiving documents, including bills of lading, packing slips, transfer records, shipment confirmations, proof of delivery, carrier documents, and customer-specific paperwork.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound trucking appointments; communicate requirements, schedules, delays, and exceptions with carriers, production, customer service, drivers, and customers.
- Maintain product condition, cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; logistics, supply-chain, inventory-management, transportation, or project-management training is preferred.
- Three or more years of warehouse, distribution, shipping/receiving, inventory-control, or logistics experience; startup, warehouse-launch, or process-implementation experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience supervising warehouse personnel, drivers, or frontline operations.
- Experience coordinating company vehicles, delivery routes, freight carriers, or transportation schedules.
- Experience with ERP, inventory-management, or warehouse-management systems, including setup or process design preferred.
- Working knowledge of freight coordination, shipping documents, bills of lading, proof-of-delivery requirements, inventory controls, and workplace safety.
- Strong project-management, organization, communication, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Forklift certification, or ability to become certified.
- Ability to work hands-on in an active warehouse environment and safely handle materials as required.
Success in the Role
