Job Purpose

Zeus Packaging is looking for a reliable, hardworking and motivated Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver to join our busy warehouse team based in Biggleswade.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse, including picking and packing customer orders, loading and unloading deliveries, stock movement and general warehouse duties.

Applicants must hold valid Counterbalance and Articulated Forklift Truck (Bendi/Flexi) training qualifications and have previous experience operating both types of forklift safely within a warehouse or distribution environment.

This is a hands-on and varied role requiring flexibility, attention to detail and a willingness to undertake all aspects of warehouse work. The successful candidate must be prepared to carry out manual order picking and general warehouse duties alongside forklift operations.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations and Order Picking

• Accurately pick, pack and prepare customer orders for dispatch in accordance with picking lists and operational requirements.
• Ensure all orders are picked correctly, securely packaged and ready for delivery within required timescales.
• Carry out manual handling and general warehouse duties, including lifting, moving and organising stock.
• Assist with goods-in and goods-out operations, ensuring products are checked and processed accurately.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and organised warehouse environment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet daily picking targets and customer delivery deadlines.
• Support other areas of the warehouse operation as required to meet business needs.

Forklift Operations

• Safely operate both Counterbalance and Articulated (Bendi/Flexi) Forklift Trucks in accordance with training and site procedures.
• Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Move, stack and retrieve palletised stock from warehouse storage locations, including narrow aisle racking where applicable.
• Transport and position pallets and materials within designated warehouse locations.
• Complete daily pre-use forklift safety checks and report any defects or concerns immediately.
• Follow all site traffic management procedures and safe forklift operating requirements.
• Ensure goods are handled carefully to minimise damage to products, equipment and property.
• Maintain appropriate training and site authorisation for all forklift equipment operated.

Stock Control

• Assist with stock rotation, stock counts and inventory checks.
• Ensure products are stored correctly and warehouse locations are maintained accurately.
• Identify and report stock discrepancies, damaged goods or shortages.
• Support the accurate recording of stock movements and warehouse documentation.
• Assist with maintaining accurate stock levels and efficient warehouse organisation.

Health, Safety and Compliance

• Comply with all Zeus Packaging health and safety policies, procedures and safe working practices.
• Follow safe manual handling techniques and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain awareness of pedestrians, vehicles and other potential hazards when operating forklifts.
• Report accidents, near misses, hazards and unsafe working conditions promptly.
• Ensure forklift operations are carried out safely and in accordance with relevant training and workplace procedures.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and efficient working environment for all employees.

Skills, Qualifications and ExperienceEssential Requirements

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) training qualification.
• Valid Articulated Forklift Truck (Bendi/Flexi) training qualification.
• Previous practical experience operating both Counterbalance and Articulated Forklift Trucks within a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Previous warehouse experience, including order picking, packing and loading/unloading.
• Willingness to undertake manual picking and general warehouse duties as a key part of the role.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards work.
• Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the role safely, with reasonable adjustments where appropriate.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience working within a packaging, distribution or logistics environment.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems and stock control procedures.
• Experience using handheld scanners or electronic picking systems.
• Additional forklift or material handling equipment training.
• Experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Their are varied shifts available but the most pressing need is for a 16:00 - 01:00 shift

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
