About the role
The Racking Installer is part of Southward's Bay of Plenty installation crew. You will assist with the assembly and installation of racking, shelving and other storage products on customer sites across the region, working under the direction of the BOP Racking Supervisor. From the Port of Tauranga's industrial and logistics catchment to the region's packhouses and coolstores, our BOP projects are varied and busy. No two sites are the same, and you will get hands-on experience with a wide range of storage systems — from shelving and cantilever through to pallet, drive-in and shuttle racking. This is a physical, practical, team-based role.
Key responsibilities
- Build racking frames
- Install all parts of storage products, including shelving, cantilever, pallet racking, drive-in racking and shuttle racking
- Follow the Supervisor's instructions, job cards and drawings so work is completed to standard and on time
- Load, transport and unload materials to and from site
- Follow Southward and client site health and safety requirements, including site inductions and PPE
- Maintain a clean, neat and safe workspace on site
- Report hazards, incidents and damaged equipment to the Supervisor promptly
- Only carry out tasks you have been trained, assessed as competent and, where required, licensed or certified to do
- Keep any licences, tickets and certifications current and provide copies to the Supervisor before starting work
- Maintain and organise tools and equipment
About you
- Knowledge of and experience with basic hand tools
- Physically fit and comfortable with active, outdoor and at-height work
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
- Team player — willing to assist and support others and get on with the crew
- Good time management — gets the job done effectively within the time frame given
- Willing to commit to long hours when needed for the entirety of a project
- Clean, full New Zealand driver's licence
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Bay of Plenty
- Desirable: A proven track record of commitment and reliability
- Desirable: Previous racking, construction or labouring experience
