About the Job

The Warehouse Service Tech keeps San Diego Drums & Totes running on the ground. You'll own order fulfillment, deliveries and pickups, and the daily upkeep of our Warehouse and Annex, for both our local storefront and our Amazon store. For many customers, you're the person they meet face to face, so how a delivery happens matters as much as whether it happens.

The role comes with ownership. When you spot an issue, you see it through: you take the right action or bring in the right person, then follow up until it's resolved. You report to the Store Operations Lead.

What the Day Is Like

• Your day starts at 6:45 AM, Monday to Friday.
• The work moves between the warehouse floor, the loading dock, outdoor yard areas, and local delivery routes.

About the Company

SDDT sells industrial packaging (metal and poly drums, IBC totes, and other industrial containers) through two channels. Our Lemon Grove storefront serves businesses and residents across San Diego County and Southern California, and our Amazon store sells nationwide.

What You'll Do

Order fulfillment and delivery

• Join the morning huddle to confirm the day's deliveries, pickups, and priorities
• Receive and verify vendor deliveries against the purchase order, and report any discrepancy the same day
• Pick, pack, and ship storefront and Amazon orders with the correct shipping documents
• Load, unload, and support local delivery and pickup routes, including a weekly run to our top accounts
• Handle will-call and customer pickup orders
• Move drums and totes safely, using the pallet jack (and the forklift once certified) for heavy loads
• Keep the Warehouse and Annex clean and organized, brief temporary workers on large delivery days, and take part in periodic inventory counts

Empty Core program

• Collect empty metal drums on pickup routes and consolidate them at our Oceanside trailer
• Apply our empty-container standard the same way every time. A container is either empty or it isn't, and you have full authority to refuse one on the spot.
• Track and report poly drum counts from our anchor accounts

Paperwork

• Scan purchase orders, packing slips, and receipts every workday
• Print and organize shipping documents to match the correct shipping method

Room to Grow

Driving our 16' box truck and operating the forklift are milestones you earn on your SDDT Career Blueprint. We train and evaluate you on the forklift, and truck authorization follows our insurer's standard. Experience with either helps, but you don't need it to start. Compensation is increased as skill milestones are reached, contact us with questions about growth and development.

About You

• You're clocked in and ready to work at 6:45, every day.
• When you finish with a tool, a pallet, or a product, you put it back where it belongs without being asked.
• You'll politely tell a long-time customer no when their drum isn't empty, and explain why.
• When you find a short count, damage, or a safety issue, you report it the same day and follow up until it's fixed.
• Before a delivery leaves, you check the order against the paperwork. At the customer's site, you greet them, confirm what they received, and mention it if you see something else they might need.

Qualifications

Required

• At least 18 years old (federal requirement to operate a forklift)
• Valid California driver's license in good standing
• Legally authorized to work in the US
• Able to perform the work described in the Physical Demands and Work Environment section, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Willing to follow our Warehouse Safety & Dress Code policy (we provide PPE)

Preferred

• Warehouse, logistics, or delivery experience (receiving, picking, packing, shipping)
• Forklift or pallet jack experience
• Box truck or similar delivery vehicle experience
• Comfortable with computers and new apps (iSolved, Shopify, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Teams, label printers). We'll teach you the specifics.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• On your feet for most of the shift
• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs; anything heavier is a team lift or moved with equipment
• Frequent bending, reaching, and climbing onto truck beds and loading docks
• Work indoors, in outdoor yard areas, and on local routes, with exposure to heat and sun
• Work around forklifts, pallet jacks, and vehicles
• Handle empty industrial containers that may hold unknown residue. Containers are checked by sight, weight, and sound and are never opened.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 6:45 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch and a 15-minute break. In person in Lemon Grove, CA.
