Warehouse Shift Manager (PM Shift)
Job description
Warehouse Shift Manager (PM shift)
Lichfield, West Midlands · Full time · 2:00pm – 10:30pm, £34,776 per annum
About us
The Cotswold Company makes furniture and homeware that’s built to be lived with. We’re a B Corp, and we look after our people the way we look after our pieces: with care, and for the long term.
Our Wednesbury warehouses are where it all comes together. Every day, orders are picked, packed and sent on their way to homes across the UK. Our e-commerce accessories operation is growing quickly, and we’re looking for a manager to lead it through the afternoon and evening.
The role
From 2pm until close, you’ll be the senior manager on site. You’ll run the operation with real autonomy, reporting to our Warehouse Operations Manager. Your team will include Senior Supervisors, Supervisors and Team Leaders.
The PM shift is where the day’s orders get finished and the next day gets set up, so you’ll own both. You’ll pick up a clean handover from the day team, make sure tonight’s dispatch leaves on time, and leave the site ready for the morning.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading a fast-paced pick/pack e-commerce operation. This is the heart of the role, and it’s growing.
- Running goods-in, goods-out, replenishment and cycle counts accurately and on time.
- Planning staffing against workload, and arranging agency cover early when you need it.
- Reporting on KPIs, capacity against plan, and damage and error rates, then acting on what you find.
- Keeping stock integrity tight in our WMS, working with our Inventory and QC teams.
- Owning health and safety on shift, including MHE checks, investigations and preventative measures.
- Coaching your team through regular one-to-ones and development conversations, and building succession.
- Managing absence, return-to-work meetings, investigations and disciplinaries fairly and consistently.
- Working as one team with Cotswold Home Delivery, our in-house delivery team.
- Taking responsibility for site security, housekeeping and recycling while you’re in charge.
What you’ll bring
- A strong background in fast-paced pick/pack e-commerce. This is essential.
- At least 5 years in warehouse operations, including 3 or more in a leadership role.
- Experience in people management, including employee relations, performance and absence.
- Good knowledge of health and safety practice, and how to monitor it.
- Confidence with Excel and a warehouse management system.
- An eye for detail, and a drive to reduce errors and improve how things work.
- Budget awareness, and the ability to build plans that improve weaker areas.
Other offers great for you!
