Warehouse Sorter

Job Summary

The Warehouse Sorter keeps product flowing accurately from receiving to its next stop in the building. You'll take items off pallets or the conveyor, scan them, and route each one to the right bin, shelf, or outbound lane. Most of it moves fast once you know the layout. A damaged box or an unreadable barcode will slow the line down if it's not caught early, so a steady eye matters more than speed alone. Volume shifts through the shift, often picking up an hour or so before trucks are scheduled to leave. You'll also flag count mismatches instead of letting them pass, and keep your section of the floor clear so product doesn't back up behind you.

Responsibilities

• Scanning incoming product and checking codes against the manifest
• Routing items to the correct bin, shelf, or lane
• Pull damaged or unreadable items aside for review
• Reporting count discrepancies as soon as they're noticed
• Keeping the sorting area free of clutter and backlog
• Loading sorted product onto carts or pallets
• Restocking bin labels and supplies throughout the shift
• Covering other sorting stations when volume shifts, and helping clear backlog before the next truck departure

Qualifications

• A smudged barcode or a label that doesn't quite match rarely slips past you.
• You're used to staying on your feet and moving steadily through a full shift.
• When the line speeds up ahead of a truck departure, you keep pace without letting items pile up behind you.
• You report discrepancies clearly instead of guessing and moving on to the next item.
• New scanning equipment or sorting software usually doesn't take long for you to pick up.
• Being someone the team can count on to show up as scheduled matters in a role like this.
• A change to bin layout or sorting routine doesn't throw off your pace for long.
• You stay cooperative and even-tempered with coworkers, even when the pace picks up fast.

Pay: $24.66 - $29.70 per hour
