What they need
Job Summary
You'll keep product moving through the warehouse by sorting it correctly the first time. That includes checking labels, scanning codes, and routing items to the right bin, cart, or staging area. Some shifts move at a steady pace. Others pick up fast when a large shipment lands all at once. You're often the one bridging what comes off the truck and what heads out for packing, so timing matters. We usually keep the process fairly routine, but you'll need to adjust when things back up or a label doesn't match. Paying close attention counts for more here than working fast, though it helps to do both.
Responsibilities
- Sorting incoming product by type, size, or destination
- Scanning barcodes and routing items to the correct bin or cart
- Flagging damaged or mismatched product for a supervisor
- Moving sorted items to staging areas for packing
- Keeping the sorting line clear and organized
- Logging items into the inventory system as they're processed
- Helping load and unload trucks during slower stretches, and stepping in wherever the line needs an extra hand
- Restocking bins, labels, and sorting materials as they run low
Qualifications
- You typically catch a mislabeled or misplaced item before it turns into a bigger issue down the line.
- Showing up for your scheduled shifts is something you take seriously.
- When the sorting line backs up, you're able to shift how you're working without losing track of what's next.
- You read and follow written instructions and labels without needing much clarification.
- Using a scanner or basic computer system to log items comes easily to you.
- Busy stretches don't throw you off — you stay steady and keep working through them.
- You work well on a shared line, especially when the pace changes and everyone has to adjust together.
- You treat teammates with respect, even during the rush when everyone's trying to keep up.
