Warehouse Supervisor - Afternoon Shift

AFTERNOON WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR:

SHIFT: 3:30 PM - 12:30 AM

The Warehouse Supervisor performs a variety of tasks to ensure the efficient and effective management of receiving and shipping activities to meet customer needs. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills; planning, organization and multi-tasking ability; attention to detail; as well as computer skills.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises shift operations in the warehouse, ensuring customer orders are completed
• Accountable for productivity and efficiencies of staff
• Ensures all orders are picked and ready for ship in a safe and timely manner; reports any exceptions to stakeholders
• Schedule all trucks and runs for the next day and assign appropriate staging lane/
• Ensure afternoon shift is loading all inside trucks before end of shift to be ready for the Driver’s shift.
• Maintains regular communication with customers/dispatch staff regarding service/delivery matters
• Optimizes the use of staff and equipment to meet customer shipping requirements
• Provides direct supervision of staff and ensures that staff are adequately trained to perform their duties in an effective and safe manner
• Ensures efficient operations are maintained by optimizing staff scheduling, availability of efficient and safe equipment, identifying process improvement opportunities, etc.
• Reports any damage to equipment or shipments, ensuring photographs and reports are completed.
• Maintains a clean, organized and safe warehouse environment
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 3 years in the warehousing or distribution sector
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment
• Post-secondary education preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-motivated team player
• Ability to effectively handle multiple conflicting priorities
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Good computer skills required
• Attention to detail required
