Warehouse Supervisor

About the role

SD Aluminium is looking for an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to join our Christchurch team. You will be responsible for supervising daily warehouse operations, coordinating incoming containers, managing stock movements and ensuring the warehouse operates safely and efficiently. As this position involves daily communication with Mandarin-speaking and English-speaking warehouse staff, suppliers, customers and transport providers, professional working proficiency in both Mandarin and English is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise warehouse staff and coordinate daily workloads.
• Arrange incoming sea containers, including delivery bookings, unloading schedules and empty-container returns.
• Communicate with freight forwarders, transport companies, suppliers and internal teams.
• Organise and supervise container unloading and devanning.
• Ensure containers are processed and returned on time to minimise delays and additional charges.
• Oversee receiving, picking, packing, dispatch and stock movements.
• Check incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documents.
• Maintain accurate inventory and warehouse records.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and provide staff training.

About you

• Previous warehouse supervisory or senior warehouse experience.

• Professional working proficiency in both Mandarin and English.（Must Have）

• Proven experience arranging and coordinating incoming sea containers.

• Experience with container delivery scheduling, unloading and empty-container returns.

• Strong leadership, organisation and problem-solving skills.

• Good understanding of warehouse health and safety requirements.

• Basic computer and inventory management skills.

• A reliable, responsible and hands-on attitude.

• Legal right to work in New Zealand.

• Current MPI-approved Accredited Person (AP) qualification (preferred).
