What they need

Warehouse Supervisor

Orion Laboratories | Baton Rouge, LA | Warehouse
Full-time| Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30 PM Central

Company Overview

Orion Laboratories is a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited clinical reference laboratory headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As the largest independent laboratory in the region, we provide clinical and diagnostic testing to physicians, hospitals, employers, and government agencies across the Gulf South, and we are actively scaling operations through our new partnership with FMOL Health.

We are hiring a Warehouse Supervisor to run our receiving, storage, and distribution operations — keeping specimen collection kits, reagents, temperature-sensitive materials, and courier supplies moving to the core laboratory, patient service centers, and client sites. This is a hands-on role in a regulated lab environment where reagents and specimens must stay within strict temperature ranges: you own a tight, accurate inventory and work the floor, not a desk. You start as a solo operator with room to build a small team as the operation grows.

What You Will Own

  • Lead daily receiving, storage, and distribution for the warehouse, supporting the core lab, patient service centers, and client sites.
  • Run daily warehouse operations as a hands-on individual contributor; set priorities and handle STAT and rush requests.
  • Maintain accurate perpetual inventory through cycle counts, par levels, FIFO rotation, and lot and expiration tracking; remove expired or recalled product.
  • Manage refrigerated and frozen storage for reagents and temperature-sensitive supplies, including daily temperature logs and excursion response.
  • Oversee receipt, inspection, and put-away of incoming shipments; resolve damages, shortages, and invoice discrepancies with vendors and purchasing.
  • Prepare and ship outbound orders and build specimen collection kits and courier supply orders on time and to specification; coordinate returns, repairs, and recalls.
  • Use Sage Intacct to receive, transfer, and report; flag usage trends and stock-out risks to purchasing and laboratory leadership.
  • Help convert current warehouse processes into Sage Intacct, documenting the software version of each process as it is built.
  • Support CAP and CLIA inspection readiness with accurate receiving records, lot documentation, and temperature logs, while maintaining a clean, secure warehouse and following OSHA safety standards.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of warehouse, materials management, or shipping/receiving experience; experience leading or supervising others a plus.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, receiving, and shipping practices, including cycle counts and FIFO rotation.
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP or inventory system — Sage Intacct preferred; NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar also strong — plus working proficiency with Microsoft Excel and email.
  • Valid driver’s license; forklift certification or the ability to obtain it.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and handle refrigerated and frozen reagents and supplies.
  • Flexibility for occasional early starts, weekends, or holidays to support laboratory operations.

Preferred

  • Hospital, clinical laboratory, or healthcare supply chain experience.
  • Experience handling temperature-controlled or regulated supplies, including reagents and medical supplies.
  • Familiarity with CAP and CLIA documentation requirements for receiving records and temperature logs.
  • Associate’s degree or coursework in supply chain or logistics.

Compensation & Benefits: $48,000–$55,000 annually, commensurate with experience and scope of responsibility. Orion Laboratories offers a competitive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, supplemental benefits, paid time off (PTO), and additional employee benefits.

Orion Laboratories is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to oversee receiving, shipping, inventory management, and distribution operations for our clinical laboratory. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and inventory control skills who can independently manage daily warehouse operations, maintain accurate records, and ensure the proper handling of temperature-sensitive laboratory supplies. The position offers an opportunity to help streamline processes and build a team as our operations continue to grow.

Orion Laboratories is an equal opportunity employer. We recruit, hire, and promote qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other status protected by applicable law.
