What they need

Small Things is hiring a full-time, on-site Warehouse Supervisor to lead daily operations at our Roxborough warehouse, which supplies our Small Things Markets and more than 50 partner pantries across the Philadelphia region.

About Small Things

Small Things provides targeted access to nutritious food, workforce development, and services to advance family stability in high-poverty neighborhoods. Started as a 501(c)(3) during the 2020 pandemic, we’ve provided millions of meals across the city, aided by thousands of volunteer moments. Today, three (soon to be four) Small Things Markets offer dignified, full-choice shopping in low-stability neighborhoods, and together with Philabundance and other major food banks, we stock more than 50 local pantries across the region.

Our values: Collaboration, Dignity, Integrity, Impact, Compassion.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Warehouse Supervisor ensures safe, efficient handling and distribution of donated and purchased food, maintains inventory accuracy, supports warehouse officers, associates, interns, and volunteers, and upholds food safety and regulatory standards in line with Small Things policies. This is an exempt position starting upon hire.

  • Inspect incoming donations for quality and safety and ensure RDO requirements are met
  • Document RDO standards (checklists, inspections, temperature logs)
  • Keep the warehouse organized and clean, and use space efficiently

Equipment Monitoring and Maintenance

  • Monitor forklifts, pallet jacks, and refrigeration units and trailers to keep operations running
  • Track the maintenance schedule, ensure timely maintenance, and document it in the maintenance logs
  • Ensure the team handles routine maintenance to avoid unnecessary supplier costs

  • Maintain strong coordination and communication with partners
  • Schedule partner pickups and have orders ready in advance

Transportation

  • Prepare the weekly transportation schedule and share it with the warehouse and transportation teams
  • Supervise drivers and communicate their schedules on time
  • Ensure drivers follow Small Things transportation procedures
  • Maintain transportation documentation (driver pre-delivery checklists, temperature logs, maintenance logs)
