What they need
Warehouse Supervisor – IT Hardware (Servers, Storage & Networking)
The company is specialist UK IT hardware business supplying enterprise technology, including servers, storage systems, networking equipment and associated components.
We work with a wide range of new, refurbished and pre-owned IT equipment, supporting customers with their enterprise hardware requirements.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable, organised and motivated Warehouse Supervisor to take responsibility for our day-to-day warehouse operations.
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to oversee our warehouse operations and supervise a small team of warehouse staff and liasing with workshop engineers for smooth running of the logistical side of the business.
This is not a purely managerial position. You will be actively involved in the daily running of the warehouse, including receiving stock, identifying products, stock control, picking, packing and dispatching customer orders.
Our warehouse handles specialist enterprise IT equipment, so we are particularly interested in someone with previous experience in the IT hardware industry who understands different manufacturers, product types, part numbers and the importance of accurate inventory management.
The ideal candidate will be confident leading a small team, maintaining high standards and ensuring the warehouse operates efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the warehouse.
- Supervise, organise and support a team of two warehouse staff.
- Take a hands-on approach to goods-in, picking, packing and dispatch.
- Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and dispatched on time.
- Coordinate incoming deliveries and outgoing courier collections.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised warehouse.
- Manage warehouse storage locations and improve space utilisation.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes and efficiency.
IT Hardware & Stock Management
- Receive, inspect and accurately record incoming IT hardware.
- Identify equipment using manufacturer part numbers, model numbers, SKUs and serial numbers.
- Ensure products are correctly labelled, stored and allocated to appropriate stock locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using stock management systems.
- Perform regular stock checks and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure the correct products and part numbers are picked for customer orders.
- Handle enterprise IT hardware carefully, including high-value and sensitive equipment.
- Support the processing of new, refurbished and pre-owned IT hardware.
- Communicate with purchasing, sales and other departments regarding stock availability and order requirements.
Team Supervision
- Allocate daily warehouse tasks and prioritise workloads.
- Monitor work quality, accuracy and productivity.
- Train and support team members in warehouse procedures and hardware identification.
- Ensure warehouse health and safety procedures are followed.
- Lead by example and remain actively involved in warehouse activities.
- Take ownership of operational issues and resolve problems efficiently.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience working in a warehouse, stock control or distribution environment.
- Experience supervising staff or taking responsibility for warehouse operations.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience with goods-in, order picking, packing and dispatch.
- Good understanding of stock management and inventory accuracy.
- Competent computer skills and experience using warehouse or inventory systems.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
- A reliable, practical and proactive approach to work.
- Willingness to be hands-on and support all aspects of daily warehouse operations.
Highly Desirable – IT Hardware Industry Experience
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates who have experience working with enterprise IT hardware, including:
- Servers: Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Lenovo and other enterprise server systems.
- Storage: Enterprise HDDs, SSDs, storage arrays, controllers and storage components.
- Networking: Cisco, HPE Aruba, Juniper and other switches, routers and networking equipment.
- IT Components: RAM, CPUs, RAID controllers, network cards, power supplies, transceivers and other server components.
- Part Number Identification: Experience working with manufacturer part numbers, SKUs, model numbers and serial numbers.
- IT Hardware Industry: Previous employment within IT hardware resale, distribution, refurbishment, ITAD or a similar environment.
You do not need to be an IT engineer or have advanced technical qualifications. However, the ability to recognise different types of IT hardware and accurately identify products by their part numbers would be a significant advantage.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Takes pride in running an accurate, efficient and organised warehouse.
- Is comfortable supervising a small team while remaining hands-on.
- Understands the importance of getting orders and part numbers right first time.
- Has excellent attention to detail when handling valuable IT equipment.
- Can take responsibility and make decisions without constant supervision.
- Communicates well with colleagues across sales, purchasing and operations.
- Is motivated to improve processes as the business grows.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary of £29,000–£33,000, depending on experience.
- Permanent, full-time employment.
- A stable role within a growing specialist IT hardware business.
- A varied and hands-on position with responsibility for warehouse operations.
- The opportunity to work with a wide range of enterprise IT hardware.
