Warming Centre Support Worker (contract)

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The Warming Centre Support Worker is responsible for monitoring the activities of participants using the Warming Centre to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations, as well as providing a safe and clean space for individuals utilizing the space.

HOURS OF WORK

12-hour shifts from 7pm-7am. This is a contract position from November 2026 to March 2027. Full-time and part-time contract roles available.

RATE: $27.61 per hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete the intake process
• Respond to crises and immediate needs of the individual
• Provide advocacy, referrals and linkages to other community services

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of a University Degree or College Health Sciences/Social Services Program. Candidates with Degrees/Diplomas in progress will be considered (students welcome to apply)
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use concerns
• Excellent organizational, oral and written communications skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
• Passion for community-based mental health and social services initiatives
• Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Additional Qualifications such as NVCI, ASIST, First Aid and CPR would also be an asset
• Understanding and sensitive to the needs of people experiencing serious mental health issues
