Warming Shelter Staff

POSITION SUMMARY:
This entry-level professional position plays a key role in supporting the operations of a 15-bed warming shelter serving adults aged 18 and older. The Warming Shelter Staff assist individuals from diverse backgrounds who may be facing a variety of challenges. Under the direct supervision of the Residential Services Manager, this role ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of shelter guests during their stay.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare for guest arrivals by ensuring all required forms and materials are available.
• Greet and check in guests in accordance with established intake and search procedures.
• Secure any items that may be considered weapons by labeling and storing them safely.
• Collect, label, and securely store all medications (both prescription and over-the-counter) upon entry.
• Complete the Warming Shelter Intake Packet for new guests (required once per winter season).
• Ensure all guests sign in each night, using the designated area in the intake documentation.
• Assign guests to a designated sleeping area, including a cot, sheet, blanket, and pillow.
• Assist guests with accessing meals, showers, and laundry facilities as needed:
• Provide toiletries and laundry detergent as required.
• Monitor guests throughout the night to ensure their health and safety.
• Carry out any assigned duties during overnight quiet hours.
• Wake guests in time for a 7:00 AM departure.
• Offer guests breakfast items and beverages (to-go breakfast bags).
• Instruct guests to place used linens in the designated laundry cart.
• Distribute warm clothing, hand/foot warmers, and return any stored personal items and medications.
• Complete a detailed Warming Shelter Shift Report at the end of each shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Residential Services Manager.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $15.25 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 40.0 per week
