KPS Australia is home to Australia’s most trusted smoke alarm brands – Red Smoke Alarms & Emerald Alarms. We’re known for our reliability, exceptional customer service, and expert product knowledge. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Warranty Technician to join our thriving team and help strengthen the delivery of outstanding service to our valued customers.

Working within the broader Customer Service Department the Warranty Technician will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and diagnosing products returned under warranty to determine whether claims are valid and what action is appropriate. The role is instrumental in the analysis and evaluation of genuine product issues from invalid or non‑warranty claims. The role provides an essential service to our customers by ensuring that warranty claims are treated accurately and quickly as part of our broader customer service promise. The Warranty Technician provides reliable technical evidence to support warranty decisions and feeds product performance trend information back to our customer service and product development teams.

Details about the role:

  • 25 Hours per Week
  • Location: Chevallum, 4555

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and log returned products from customers and into our warranty platform

  • Visually inspect items for damage, tampering, misuse, and signs of normal wear

  • Perform functional testing using standard test procedures, checklists, and equipment to confirm reported faults

  • Guided by our warranty system, classify each return (e.g., manufacturing defect, customer‑induced damage, no fault found, incorrect use)

  • Determine warranty eligibility based on our warranty policy terms and test results

  • Support the submission of warranty claims to suppliers with supporting evidence (photos, test data, serial numbers).

  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, decisions in the warranty system

  • Identify recurring faults or potential product issues and report trends to internal teams

  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including safe handling of electrical products and batteries

  • Keep work area, tools, and test equipment organised and in safe working order

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to follow test procedures, checklists, and warranty policies consistently
  • Good documentation skills and attention to detail for claim records and reports
  • Basic data literacy to spot trends and summarise findings for other teams
  • Familiarity with RMA/warranty systems, spreadsheets, and basic office software.

About You:

  • You take real pride in your work and hold yourself to a high standard.
  • You have a sharp eye for accuracy and detail
  • You enjoy being hands-on and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • You’re always looking for better, smarter ways to do things.
  • You’re someone who cares — about the team, the customer, and the details.

Bonus Points If You:

  • Have prior electronic or warranty processing experience
  • Are familiar with inventory management systems
  • Have a flair for organization and love a tidy workspace
