Waste Management Attendant / Operator

Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) is one of Western Australia’s biggest waste management authorities, providing a comprehensive waste disposal service to local government authorities and residents in the Perth Metro Area.

The Role, Waste Management Attendant / Operator is an integral member of the operations team and contributes to the MRC objectives. This position works with a small team of employees providing services to the member councils and the general public predominantly at the Tamala Park Landfill and Transfer Station.

The Salary and Benefits, full time permanent salary range $81k - $84k plus benefits that include:

• Adverse working allowance ($1.37 p/h)
• Weekend loading and overtime as rostered.
• Up to 19% Employer contribution Superannuation.
• Full time, 76 hours per fortnight, Monday to Sunday roster.
• 22 days annual leave plus loading.
• 12 days personal leave
• Health and Wellbeing program
• 13 weeks Long Service Leave (10 years’ service), pro-rata after 7 years' service.

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications

• Current HR Driver’s License
• Formal qualifications for operating Hook-lift Trucks, Skid Steer loader
• Front End Loader, Dump Truck, Excavator and Landfill compactors (desirable).

Essential requirements:

• Ability to work in a small team environment.

• Experience operating Hook-lift Trucks and Skid Steer loaders.

• Weighbridge experience, an advantage.

• Previous experience on landfill site or civil construction, an advantage.

• An understanding of appropriate work practices including WHS requirements, equipment manuals and workplace procedures.

 The Council maintains a strong Wellness Policy with all staff subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
