Wastewater Operator

Job Title: Wastewater Operator Trainee / Operator I

• Position Summary

Operates and maintains wastewater treatment plant equipment, collection systems, and facilities under close supervision. Performs routine tests and grounds maintenance to ensure compliance with Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plant Operations: Monitor meters, gauges, and control panels to regulate the flow and treatment of wastewater.
• Testing & Sampling: Collect wastewater and sludge samples; perform routine laboratory tests (e.g., pH, e-coli, dissolved oxygen).
• Maintenance: Conduct pressure washing of clarifiers, clean aeration tanks, and assist with general equipment upkeep using hand and power tools.
• Record Keeping: Maintain daily logs of readings, operational changes, and maintenance performed.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• License/Certification: Previous Certification desired but not required
• Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s license.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in various weather conditions, and occasionally work on-call or weekend shifts.
