Water Jet Operator / CNC Machine Operator - 1st Shift

Midwest Tool & Cutlery is hiring a Waterjet Operator for our Caledonia, Ohio facility.

This position is responsible for operating and programming a waterjet, selecting and loading material, inspecting finished parts, making machine adjustments, and performing basic troubleshooting and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and blueprints to determine job requirements.
• Select and load the correct material onto the waterjet.
• Download and open cut files.
• Program the waterjet based on job instructions.
• Cut and inspect first-piece parts using precision measuring tools.
• Adjust cutting parameters as needed to meet specifications.
• Complete required process paperwork and update material records.
• Operate a forklift to move materials.
• Fill the abrasive system using approximately 55-pound bags of garnet.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on the waterjet system.
• Open CAD files to verify dimensions and make minor corrections when needed.
• Periodically clean the waterjet tank, including manually shoveling used garnet.
• Perform secondary operations such as drilling, tapping, countersinking, deburring, and forming.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications

• Previous machine-operation or machining experience.
• Ability to read work orders and blueprints.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Basic CAD knowledge.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Basic shop math and computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail and dependable attendance.

Waterjet, CNC, laser, plasma, or other programmable cutting-machine experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift approximately 55 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and perform physical production work.
• Ability to perform periodic manual waterjet tank cleaning.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Location: Caledonia, Ohio

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
