Water Plant Operator

Job Overview

*Add various chemicals, such as ammonia, chlorine, or lime, to disinfectant water or other liquids

*Inspect equipment on a regular basis

*Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges

*Collect and test water samples

*Record meter and gauge readings, and operational data

*Operate equipment to purify and clarify water, or to process or dispose of sewage

*Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas

*Ensure safety standards are met.

*Stay Current on environmental laws and regulations.

*Maintain Required Classes/Licensing to meet standards through TCEQ.

*May need to work overtime outside of scheduled hours.

Requirements

• Proven experience working in water treatment plants
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to repair and maintain water treatment equipment
• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and water utility distribution networks.
• Basic math skills for data analysis, calculations related to flow rates, chemical dosages, and system performance metrics.
• Experience working within the energy & utilities sector or similar industrial environments emphasizing safety regulations and environmental compliance.
• Excellent analysis skills for troubleshooting issues quickly and effectively while maintaining high safety standards.
• Physical capability for heavy lifting, prolonged standing or walking, and performing maintenance tasks in various weather conditions.
• Must have a Class B Surface Water Operator License. If you carry a Class C Surface Water Operator License you may inquire.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
