Water Pollution Control Facility Truck Driver/Vactor Operator

The Town of Wareham’s Human Resources Department is accepting applications on behalf of the Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) which is a Massachusetts Grade 6, 1.5 MGD BNR wastewater treatment plant, for a CDL Truck Driver/Vactor Operator. The full-time, union position, is a five day per week schedule that may include Saturdays and/or Sundays, mandatory on-call and overtime. Salary and a generous benefits package, which includes health insurance (premiums paid at 68%), dental insurance (premiums paid at 75%), paid time off, weekend differential, boot allowance, etc. are in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Additionally, there is potential for advancement and growth. On the job training for Waste Water Operator licenses and additional certifications is available.

Requirements: High School Graduate or GED; valid Class B Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License; Waste Water Operator Certification or the ability to obtain one within two years of date of hire. Knowledge of general principles and practices of wastewater treatment. Must have the ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment. Must be 18 years of age to apply. Subject to CORI/SORI, RMV check, pre-employment physical and drug test.

Responsibilities: This position operates the high pressure sewer rodder/vactor truck and equipment and assists in the maintenance, repair, installation and replacement of components of the Town’s waste water treatment facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: operates high pressure vactor truck to clean jet sewer lines; operates various pieces of heavy equipment; performs operator repairs on equipment and reports the need for major repairs, checks and maintains fluid levels; assist in performing repairs and replacements to small equipment, sewer lines and valves in the collections and treatment facility; ability to perform the daily operation, maintenance and repair of the WPCF pumping stations and collection system, including daily monitoring and inspection of all plant facilities, including pumps, tanks structures and adjoining areas.
