MCSI Water System Operator

MCSI Water Systems Management provides drinking water system operations for small

and medium-size water systems. These systems include private systems, Mutual Water

Companies, Water Associations and County or State-owned water systems.

MCSI provides water testing, daily system operations, reporting, system inspections, filtration

system operations and maintenance, water system troubleshooting and emergency response.

MCSI is the certified operator for over 70 water Companies and systems in four counties,

Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, and San Benito.

Employment Description:

MCSI is seeking an employee with a State certification of Distribution Operator 2 (D2)

and or Treatment 2 (T2) license.

Operator Qualifications:

Operator will have a clean driving record and current California driver’s license.

Operator should be familiar with Apple iPad, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe

systems. Training will be provided for our systems.

Operator should be able to perform physical tasks including, lifting up to 50 pounds,

kneeling, stooping, climbing, use of a ladder, hand tools, wrenches, shovels, rakes, gas

powered weed cutters and saws, valve keys, air compressors and other powered and un-

powered tools.

Operator should be familiar with various field test systems including, nitrate, arsenic,

and chlorine field test kits.

Operator should have a basic knowledge of plumbing and plumbing components,

and the proper installation thereof.

Operator should have knowledge and awareness of safety concerns regarding pressurized

water distribution systems and their safe operation.

Operator should have good communication skills, maintain a clean and professional

appearance and a positive attitude. Operator should be able to work un-supervised

and have the ability to make good decisions in unexpected circumstances.

Operator Duties:

Operator will travel to various water systems and perform water system inspections.

These inspections include but are not limited to:

Water tank level inspection

Water system pressure inspection

Chlorine residual field testing

Well depth readings

Water Production meter reading

Water Consumption meter reading

Chemical delivery and chemical tank dilution and filling

Water sampling from distribution, water sources and service connections

Chemical pump or filtration operation and inspection

Chemical pump and or filtration system inspection and operation

Basic maintenance and filter exchanges

Distribution system inspection and valve exercising

Maintenance of individualized water system operations logs in the Apple iPad.

Delivery of water samples with properly completed Chain of Custody forms to

certified laboratories.

Customer service and response to service calls.

Water meter reading

Leak repair

Emergency response after hours and on Weekends and Holidays

MCSI will provide training for a successful candidate regarding the specifics of each

water system assigned to the operator and will provide tools, test kits and other materials

necessary for water system operations and maintenance.

MCSI will provide opportunities for additional licensing and certification including:

Backflow Tester certification

Backflow Specialist training

Control system training

Electrical system training.

Pay: $27.10 - $32.63 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 30.0 per week
