Wave Soldering & Conformal Coating Operator

We are looking for an experienced SMT Manufacturing Technician with strong hands-on experience in wave soldering, PCB assembly and conformal coating. The ideal candidate is hands-on, independent, technically skilled, and capable of setting up, operating and troubleshooting wave soldering equipment without constant supervision.

Main Responsibilities:

Wave Soldering (Primary Responsibility)

• Independently operate and monitor the wave soldering machine.
• Set up and adjust machine parameters according to PCB and process requirements.
• Troubleshoot machine and process problems independently.
• Identify and correct soldering defects including bridges, insufficient solder, icicles, skips, poor hole fill and other defects.
• Monitor flux application, solder temperature, conveyor speed, preheat and other process parameters.
• Perform machine setup, changeovers, cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose equipment/process issues and take corrective action.
• Work with production and engineering to resolve recurring soldering and process problems.
• Maintain accurate production and process records.

Conformal Coating

• Prepare PCB assemblies for conformal coating.
• Perform masking of connectors, test points and other areas requiring protection.
• Apply conformal coating using the appropriate production equipment and process.
• Inspect coating coverage, consistency and overall quality.
• Identify coating defects and perform rework when required.
• Follow established coating, ESD, safety and quality procedures.

SMT / Electronics Manufacturing

• Work with SMT and through-hole PCB assemblies.
• Perform visual inspection and basic soldering/rework.
• Read assembly drawings, work instructions, BOMs and production documentation.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and identify root causes.
• Support production and engineering with process improvements.
• Maintain product quality, production efficiency and schedule.
• Work independently while following established procedures and quality requirements.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing / PCBA.
• Direct experience operating wave soldering equipment.
• Ability to independently set up, operate and troubleshoot a wave soldering machine.
• Experience with through-hole PCB assembly and soldering.
• Hands-on experience with conformal coating is preferred.
• Strong understanding of soldering defects and corrective actions.
• Knowledge of PCB assembly processes and manufacturing equipment.
• IPC-A-610 class 2 and 3 knowledge or certification is an asset.
• Ability to read work instructions, assembly drawings and BOMs.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in an ESD-controlled manufacturing environment.
• French and/or English communication skills.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is not simply a machine operator. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the wave soldering process, recognize problems, troubleshoot the equipment/process, make appropriate adjustments, and maintain consistent production quality.

Experience with both wave soldering and conformal coating is highly valued.

Pay: $18.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
