We focus on engagement before liquidity events, with exit planning as a flagship service line, and we think of ourselves as a hub-and-spoke virtual family office for the clients we serve.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Financial Advisor role is ideal for candidates with an interest in business development (new and/or existing clients) who want to work as part of a collaborative, established team. The Financial Advisor will receive a base salary, transaction-related compensation, bonus, and employee benefits (including retirement). Northwestern Mutual (NM) will provide non-qualified retirement benefits, and the Financial Advisor will be eligible for Northwestern Mutual Corporate Office honors and recognition.

OVERALL FUNCTION

A business-development focused employee role that allows candidates to join an established practice within Northwestern Mutual’s Private Client Group and receive a salary, transaction-related compensation, and bonus, as well as Northwestern Mutual awards and recognition and Northwestern Mutual Home Office provided non-qualified retirement benefits — with the potential to grow into a partnership track within the firm.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing Client Relationships

• Present plans and recommendations to clients
• Build and manage client relationships
• Create updated plans and product recommendations
• Service new and existing clients

Acquiring Clients

• Attract and pursue new clients
• Elicit referrals from existing clients
• Embrace change and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Work both independently and as part of a team
• Maintain confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Licensing:

• Life & Health Insurance License
• Securities Registered: SIE, Series 6 and 63 are required (Series 7 is recommended)

Ideal Designations:

• CLU®, ChFC®, CLTC® or CFP®

Target Education:

• 4-year degree in business or a related field (preferred)

Required Experience:

• Financial services industry experience
• Demonstrated ability to generate qualified leads independently
• Experience in sales, client services, or client-facing roles

Ideal Experience:

• Ability to bring in an existing advisory book of business

• Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients
