Web & App Developer (Tutoring)

About the opportunity

Are you a Web & App Developer who enjoys explaining technology and helping others develop their skills?

We are looking for a confident developer to deliver practical web development, app development and AI training to adult learners.

You must have at least two years of professional development experience and practical experience using AI tools in development. Previous tutoring experience and a teaching qualification are not required. We will support you to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

About Intech Centre

We provide adult education and practical skills training to help people gain qualifications, build confidence and progress into employment.

Our Level 2 Web & App Development and AI programme introduces learners to web development, software development fundamentals and mobile app development.

Your role

You will use your industry experience to deliver engaging lessons, demonstrate development techniques and guide beginners through practical projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering classroom sessions at our Islington centre and live online sessions.
• Teaching learners to create responsive websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Introducing modern development tools such as React and Node.js.
• Explaining programming logic, components, APIs, databases, testing and debugging.
• Supporting learners to design, build and test simple applications.
• Demonstrating practical AI use for planning, coding, troubleshooting, testing and documentation.
• Teaching learners to understand, check and improve AI-generated code.
• Introducing Git/GitHub, version control, deployment, accessibility and basic security.
• Preparing practical exercises, learning materials and assignments with guidance from our team.
• Assessing learner work, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate progress records.
• Helping learners build portfolios and understand how their skills apply to employment and freelance work.

Essential requirements

• Professional experience in web, software or app development.
• Strong practical knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience with modern development technologies, including tools such as React and Node.js.
• Ability to build and demonstrate working websites or applications.
• Demonstrable experience using AI tools in real development workflows, such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
• Ability to explain how you use AI, verify its outputs and resolve errors.
• Confidence communicating technical ideas clearly to beginners.
• A patient, supportive approach and enthusiasm for helping adults learn.
• Good organisation and willingness to develop lesson planning and assessment skills.
• Availability for teaching in Islington and online.

Desirable skills

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:

• React Native, Flutter or other mobile app development tools.
• TypeScript, Next.js or similar technologies.
• Databases, backend services and application deployment.
• WordPress, CMS platforms or no-code/low-code tools.
• Presenting demonstrations, mentoring colleagues or supporting junior developers.

Support provided

We will support you to gain a recognised teaching qualification and provide guidance with lesson planning, teaching delivery and assessment.
