Web Developer (Contract)

• SpecterOps is seeking an experienced Web Developer with deep WordPress expertise to support the ongoing development, optimization, and maintenance of our public-facing web presence
• You will work closely with our Marketing team to build and refine web pages, implement new functionality, and ensure our WordPress environment is well-maintained and scalable
• We’re looking for a self-directed developer who communicates clearly, manages their own workload effectively, and takes ownership of deliverables from start to finish
• You should be equally comfortable building new features from scratch and jumping into an existing codebase to troubleshoot and improve it. The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and an eye for design to every engagement
• Design, develop, and maintain WordPress-based web properties, including custom themes and plugins
• Build and update landing pages, campaign pages, and site sections in close collaboration with Marketing and Design
• Implement responsive, accessible, and cross-browser-compatible front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Optimize site performance including page speed, Core Web Vitals, and SEO best practices
• Manage WordPress configuration, plugin updates, and security hardening
• Integrate third-party tools and APIs including CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms
• Troubleshoot and resolve front-end and back-end issues in a timely manner
• Maintain clean, well-documented code and follow established development standards
• Support QA and testing processes to ensure consistent, high-quality releases
• Collaborate asynchronously with a remote-first team across Marketing, Design, and Operations

• Experience integrating HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, or similar platforms
• Experience with WordPress VIP, including familiarity with its hosting environment, deployment workflows, and code standards
• Solid grasp of WordPress security best practices and site hardening
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
• Understanding of web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO
• Hands-on experience building and customizing WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
• Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor, Gutenberg, or similar tools
• Experience with Git-based version control workflows
• Strong written communication skills for async collaboration
• 5+ years of professional web development experience, with significant focus on WordPress
• Experience with B2B tech or cybersecurity companies
• Familiarity with headless WordPress or REST API integrations
