What they need
About Kaskade Kaskade is a whitelabel crypto payment gateway for merchants (kaskade.com), providing checkout, payment links, invoicing, POS and payouts on top of MPC custody and a policy-governed withdrawal engine. Kaskade launched to friendly customers on 1 September 2026, with public launch on 1 October 2026.
Why This Role Exists Kaskade's technical operations currently depend on a single engineer (our CTO), who works 9 hours behind CET. This creates a coverage gap for merchant-facing technical issues during CET business hours. We are not looking for a traditional support agent; we are looking for a Founding Engineer / Web Developer who will take full ownership of the Developer Experience (DevEx) and merchant integrations.
You will step into a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you will write and debug JavaScript/TypeScript code, independently triage platform issues, and serve as the primary technical authority for our merchants during CET hours. Your ultimate goal is to solve merchant problems at the code level and build the tools/SDKs that make manual support obsolete. You will make direct, reviewed code changes as trust and tenure build.
What You'll Do
- Write Code & Fix Bugs: Develop, maintain, and debug JavaScript/TypeScript code for platform features, APIs, and merchant integrations.
- Own the Merchant Experience: Serve as the first point of contact for merchant technical support during CET hours (integration questions, transaction issues, API/webhook troubleshooting).
- Deep Troubleshooting: Diagnose coding and configuration issues across the payment flow: checkout, payment links/invoices, POS, MPC custody, and policy-governed payouts.
- Ship Fixes: Investigate and resolve issues within a defined scope (config, non-custody-affecting fixes); ship changes through code review rather than direct production access, escalating anything touching custody, payouts, or core architecture to the CTO.
- Proactive Monitoring: Monitor platform health and transaction flows, flagging anomalies proactively before merchants even notice them.
- Automate & Document: Maintain and improve internal runbooks and technical support documentation so knowledge isn't siloed and merchants can self-serve.
- Operations Support: Support merchant onboarding and Sumsub KYC/KYB verification issues.
- Cross-Timezone Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with the CTO on handoffs, code review, and priority issues despite the time zone gap.
What We're Looking For
Must-Have:
- Crypto Experience. Proven experience with crypto infrastructure, Web3, or payments. You understand how blockchain transactions and fiat on/off-ramps work.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript Skills. Solid backend/web development experience; you are comfortable reading, debugging, and modifying an existing codebase (this is a coding role, not a ticketing background).
- API & Integrations Master. Deep familiarity with REST APIs, webhooks, and debugging integration issues from both sides (platform and merchant).
- Startup Mentality. You have an owner's mindset, high flexibility, and are comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Location: Based in or working CET-compatible hours.
- Autonomy: Comfortable owning issues independently and making judgment calls on what to fix vs. escalate.
- Communication: Strong written communication for merchant-facing support and internal documentation.
Access & Security Access is role-based and scoped to what the job needs, consistent with Kaskade's own platform security model. This role does not include unreviewed production or custody-adjacent access; code changes go through review by the CTO before merge, with scope expanding over time as trust is established.
Why Join You'll be one of the first hires on a live crypto payment platform, with real ownership over a critical function: writing code, keeping merchants supported, and ensuring the platform runs smoothly around the clock. You will have a direct impact on the core product and the autonomy to shape how we interact with our customers.
Other offers great for you!
