Web Developer (Full Stack, AI)

Role Overview

You'll build the web apps and internal tools behind Avinity Analytics' data products, with AI in the loop at every step. That covers two kinds of work. You'll use AI coding agents to ship faster, and you'll build LLM features into the products themselves. You'll own features from the database schema to the screen. You'll review and test the code AI writes as closely as your own.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack web apps in TypeScript, React and Next.js, from database design to UI
• Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor or similar) every day to plan, write, test and refactor code, and review every change before it ships
• Build LLM features into our products, such as Q&A over client data, report and document summaries, structured data extraction, and AI-assisted research
• Write the prompts, tool definitions and structured outputs behind those features, and test them against real examples so the answers stay accurate
• Integrate model APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or gateways like OpenRouter) and manage cost, speed, rate limits and failures
• Design PostgreSQL schemas and queries, and keep data access secure with proper authentication, permissions and input validation
• Handle client data with care: keep API keys out of code, and keep sensitive data out of prompts and logs
• Write automated tests, debug issues anywhere in the stack, and deploy to the cloud
• Try new models and tools on real tasks and share with the team what works and what doesn't
• Qualifications
• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience shown through projects
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS
• Experience with React (Next.js a plus) and at least one backend: Node.js, PHP/Laravel or Python
• Good SQL and relational database design (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
• Experience with REST APIs and authentication
• Comfortable with Git and pull request workflows
• Use AI coding tools regularly, and can tell when their output is wrong
• Have built at least one project (work, study or personal) that calls an LLM API
• Clear written English, since you'll write prompts, PR descriptions and notes for non-technical colleagues
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

Bonus Qualifications

• Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG): embeddings, vector search (e.g. pgvector) and retrieval
• Agents and tool calling, or building MCP servers
• Testing LLM output with test sets, LLM-as-judge, or comparing models
• Charts and dashboards in the browser, or embedding Power BI or Tableau
• Cloud (AWS, GCP) and Docker
