Job Summary

Enterprise Solutions, Inc. (ESI) is seeking an experienced part-time Web Developer to support Fairfax County’s Land Development Services (LDS) IT Services Branch.

This position will help maintain and update the County’s Drupal public-facing website, internal SharePoint sites, and Public Facilities Manual (PFM) platform. Working closely with the existing LDS Web Developer and IT Systems Architect, the selected candidate will complete website updates, troubleshoot issues, document procedures, and help reduce the team’s backlog.

The ideal candidate has practical experience maintaining Drupal and SharePoint environments, strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver accurate, accessible web content with limited oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update website content, pages, navigation, and configurations across Drupal, SharePoint, and the PFM platform.
  • Publish Drupal content, create pages, implement approved structural changes, and perform approved module updates.
  • Support SharePoint site configuration, content updates, document storage setup, and permission reviews.
  • Perform routine and ad hoc Public Facilities Manual updates using the County’s designated platform.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer and shadowing sessions to learn existing architecture, platform dependencies, approval processes, and deployment procedures.
  • Troubleshoot routine website and configuration issues in coordination with the LDS Web Developer.
  • Follow established content approval, security, accessibility, and web governance requirements.
  • Ensure public-facing content and applications meet WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA accessibility requirements.
  • Develop standard operating procedures, maintenance checklists, workflows, and other support documentation.
  • Maintain knowledge transfer materials, including process notes and diagrams, as appropriate.
  • Participate in recurring coordination meetings to review priorities, progress, issues, and lessons learned.
  • Submit weekly time records and activity summaries.
  • Complete assigned work within agreed timelines and communicate risks or obstacles promptly.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and supporting websites using content management systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Drupal content publishing, page management, and website maintenance.
  • Experience supporting SharePoint sites, including content management, document libraries, site configuration, and permissions.
  • Working knowledge of web accessibility requirements, including WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA.
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine website, content, and configuration issues.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, standard operating procedures, or user support instructions.
  • Ability to learn an existing environment and follow established approval, deployment, and governance processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to complete assignments independently while coordinating with technical staff.
  • Availability to work 20 hours per week during Fairfax County core business hours and attend occasional in-person sessions when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting government or other public-sector websites.
  • Experience maintaining public-facing Drupal websites and internal SharePoint environments within the same organization.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for routine web updates and troubleshooting.
  • Experience maintaining technical manuals, regulatory publications, or other structured online content.
  • Familiarity with eCode or similar online publishing platforms.
  • Experience supporting knowledge transfer, documenting existing workflows, and improving maintenance procedures.
