Web3 Engineering Lead

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of scalable Web3 and blockchain products and platforms.
• Define technical strategy and architecture for blockchain protocols, decentralized applications (dApps), smart contracts, wallets, and Web3 infrastructure.
• Lead engineering teams across smart contracts, backend services, frontend applications, blockchain infrastructure, and integrations.
• Design, develop, review, and optimize secure smart contracts using Solidity, Rust, or other blockchain programming languages.
• Drive architecture decisions across Layer 1, Layer 2, EVM-compatible chains, rollups, DeFi, DAOs, NFTs, and token-based ecosystems.
• Establish engineering standards for smart-contract development, testing, deployment, upgradeability, and security.
• Lead smart-contract security practices including code reviews, threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, gas optimization, and coordination with external auditors.
• Design scalable backend and distributed-system architectures for blockchain applications, APIs, indexing, data pipelines, and off-chain services.
• Evaluate blockchain protocols, infrastructure providers, development frameworks, and emerging Web3 technologies.
• Oversee integration with wallets, exchanges, custodians, payment systems, blockchain nodes, and third-party Web3 services.
• Drive performance, reliability, scalability, and cost optimization across blockchain and application infrastructure.
• Establish CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, observability, and DevSecOps practices for Web3 applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, security teams, DevOps engineers, designers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Conduct architecture and code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering, security, and quality standards.
• Mentor engineers, build technical capabilities, and foster a strong engineering culture.
• Stay current with developments in blockchain protocols, DeFi, ZK technologies, account abstraction, interoperability, and Web3 infrastructure.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in software engineering, blockchain/Web3 development, distributed systems, or related technology, with proven experience leading engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on experience with blockchain development and Web3 architecture, preferably in production environments.
• Expert-level proficiency in Solidity and EVM-based blockchain development; experience with Rust/Solana is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of Ethereum, EVM architecture, Layer 1/Layer 2 networks, rollups, consensus mechanisms, gas mechanics, and blockchain infrastructure.
• Proven experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade smart contracts.
• Strong knowledge of smart-contract security, including common vulnerabilities, threat modeling, auditing, upgradeability patterns, access control, and secure development practices.
• Experience with tools such as Foundry, Hardhat, OpenZeppelin, Ethers.js, Web3.js, and blockchain development/testing frameworks.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cryptography, databases, APIs, microservices, and system design.
• Experience building and scaling dApps, DeFi protocols, token systems, wallets, Web3 APIs, or blockchain infrastructure.
• Familiarity with zero-knowledge proofs, ZK-rollups, account abstraction, cross-chain protocols, bridges, or blockchain interoperability is highly desirable.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure/GCP, CI/CD, monitoring, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong programming skills in one or more additional languages such as Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, or JavaScript.
• Proven ability to lead architecture decisions, technical roadmaps, engineering delivery, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong experience in code reviews, technical mentoring, hiring, team development, and engineering best practices.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, stakeholder-management, and technical leadership skills.
• Contributions to open-source blockchain projects, protocols, developer communities, or Web3 ecosystems are an advantage.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline; a Masters degree is an advantage.
