What they need

Role details

Job title: Webmaster

Organisations: Network for Animals (NFA) and Animal Survival International (ASI)

Location: Cape Town office (Westlake), hybrid

Purpose of the role

The Webmaster keeps the NFA and ASI websites running smoothly, accurate and up to date. The role turns campaign updates and approved news into published web content, designs print-ready postals, and reports website performance to the board each quarter.

Key responsibilities

Website management

  • Keep both WordPress websites fully functioning, secure and up to date, including routine checks, plugin updates and security monitoring
  • Build appeal and landing pages, and set up campaign tracking codes for appeals
  • Escalate technical issues to the IT Lead and coordinate with hosting and DNS providers when needed

Content management

  • Review content on both sites regularly and keep it consistent with the appeal calendar
  • Update key campaign pages after each appeal, gathering updates from campaigners
  • Manage each page update through copy checking, proofreading and final approval before publishing

News items

  • Create and publish approved news items on the relevant site: NFA for domestic animals and welfare, ASI for wildlife and climate change
  • Source suitable stock images and file them in the shared drive
  • Send live links and image folders to the Social Media Manager for sharing

Postals

  • Design print-ready postals for NFA and ASI in Adobe InDesign, converting e-appeals into postal format
  • Produce UK and US versions as required
  • Export and package final files and send them to the printer

Reporting

  • Compile website statistics from Google Analytics for the quarterly board report
  • Summarise website updates, performance trends and planned work for each site

Skills and experience

Required

  • Hands-on experience managing WordPress websites: pages, posts, plugins and updates
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and print-ready file preparation (PDF export, packaging, bleed)
  • Experience with Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, UTMs and conversion tracking
  • Strong attention to detail and an eye for consistent, accurate content
  • Clear written English and confidence working with copy editors and proofreaders
  • Able to manage several stakeholders and ad hoc requests to deadline
  • Technical SEO: metadata, redirects, site speed, broken links and schema basics

Nice to have

  • Experience in the non-profit or animal welfare sector
  • Familiarity with Fundraise Up or other online donation platforms
  • Basic understanding of hosting and DNS (e.g. Kinsta, Cloudflare)
  • Canva and image editing skills
  • Awareness of SEO best practice

Pay: Up to R35 000,00 per month

Application Question(s):

  • Willing to undergo background check

Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (Preferred)
