Weekend Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Location: Chicago West Side
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
Hours: Approximately 16 hours per week
Pay: $18.80 per hour, paid weekly

This is a weekend-only position with a fixed schedule:

• Saturday: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
• Sunday: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM

Applicants must be available for the entire shift every Saturday and Sunday. This position does not offer morning, overnight, or weekday shifts.

Position Summary

Ohana Community Services is hiring a dependable and experienced Direct Support Professional to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our West Side CILA homes.

This is an active, hands-on position. Staff must remain engaged with clients, complete all assigned responsibilities, and work respectfully as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and daily routines
• Prepare and serve balanced meals
• Complete cleaning, laundry, and household responsibilities
• Administer medications after completing the required authorization
• Complete medication, behavioral, service, and outcome documentation
• Monitor client safety, health, and behavior
• Encourage client independence and participation in meaningful activities
• Follow individual service plans and behavior-support plans
• Communicate important information during shift changes
• Remain awake, alert, and actively working throughout the entire shift

Required Qualifications

• Completed an Illinois-approved DSP training program
• DSP/Developmental Disabilities Aide training listed on the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry
• Available every Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
• Reliable transportation to Chicago’s West Side
• Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
• Able to complete all required background and registry checks
• Dependable attendance and professional communication
• Able to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation

Attendance Expectations

Weekend staff coverage is essential. Applicants must be able to report on time and work the entire scheduled shift every Saturday and Sunday.

Frequent call-offs, lateness, no-call/no-shows, sleeping during a shift, or leaving without authorization may result in corrective action, up to and including termination.

Pay: $18.80 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 per week
