Weekend Kitchen Assistant/All Rounder

Steep Street Coffee House is a bookshop café on the Old High Street in Folkestone. We serve light lunches, coffee and cake all day and are generally bustling, though especially busy at lunchtime and weekends. We are looking for a hard working and friendly new person to join our kitchen team in a part time Kitchen Assistant role.

This role will be two weekend shifts each week on Saturday AND Sunday but you will sometimes be asked to cover other shifts. This means a certain amount of flexibility is required, especially during holidays and busy periods.

Duties will include:

• Pot washing using a commercial dishwasher, keeping pace with front of house
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen at all times
• Adhering to food hygiene policies and completing daily cleaning tasks as scheduled
• Clearing tables front of house
• Warmly welcome people into the café
• Take orders and process transactions on an EPOS till
• Cutting cakes and serving up savoury food
• Working as part of a team to provide efficient and friendly service
• Help to provide holiday and last- minute sick cover
