About the Role

Charterhouse Recovery Centre is a residential addiction rehabilitation centre offering a structured 28-day recovery programme.

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Recovery Support Worker to support our residents from Friday through Monday.

The role focuses on recovery support, emotional wellbeing, group activities, community engagement and maintaining a positive residential environment.

Our clinical therapists deliver structured therapeutic treatment during the week. This position complements their work by providing ongoing recovery-focused support, encouragement and practical assistance.

Key Responsibilities

Friday – Recovery Support & Meetings

  • Facilitate recovery-focused group discussions, including topics related to the 12 Steps, sobriety and maintaining recovery.
  • Provide emotional support, encouragement and guidance to residents.
  • Accompany and supervise residents attending external recovery meetings, including AA/NA.
  • Support residents with their daily routines and general wellbeing.

Saturday – Outings & Activities

  • Organise and accompany residents on planned excursions and community activities.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and healthy recreational habits.
  • Provide supervision and support throughout the day.
  • Remain available to residents during their free time, encouraging independence while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Sunday – Weekly Reflection & Wellbeing

  • Facilitate a weekly reflection group where residents can discuss their progress, challenges, triggers and achievements.
  • Encourage residents to identify goals and intentions for the following week.
  • Organise informal activities such as walks, games and group recreation.
  • Offer emotional support and maintain a relaxed, positive and recovery-focused atmosphere.

Monday – Residential & Recovery Support

  • Facilitate the morning Six Daily Questions check-in and a structured recovery-focused group.
  • Support residents throughout their morning routine.
  • Assist with general residential support responsibilities.
  • Provide a handover to the clinical team, highlighting relevant observations, concerns and resident progress.

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience in addiction recovery, residential rehabilitation, mental health support or similar environments.
  • Understanding of addiction, sobriety and the recovery process.
  • Confidence in facilitating informal recovery-focused groups.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to offer emotional support.
  • Approachable, patient, compassionate and reliable.
  • Ability to organise activities and work independently.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, professional boundaries and resident safety.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to work weekends and flexible shifts.

Desirable

  • Relevant qualification in Health and Social Care, Addiction Studies or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the 12-Step approach and AA/NA meetings.
  • Previous experience supporting residents in an addiction rehabilitation setting.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and understands the importance of connection, routine and encouragement during recovery.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading informal groups, supporting residents through difficult moments, organising activities and creating a warm, safe and supportive environment.

This is a non-clinical support role and does not involve delivering formal psychotherapy or individual clinical treatment.
