JOB DESCRIPTION – WELDER

Job Summary

The Welder is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance work on company equipment, machinery, structures, pipelines, frames, and other metal components. The position ensures that all welding activities are completed safely, accurately, and according to company standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Welding & Fabrication
• Perform welding activities using appropriate welding processes such as SMAW, GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG, and oxy-acetylene, as applicable.
• Fabricate and assemble metal structures, frames, brackets, supports, and other components.
• Weld and repair equipment, machinery, pipes, tanks, platforms, and other metal structures.
• Read and interpret basic drawings, welding symbols, measurements, and specifications.
• Repair & Maintenance
• Conduct welding repairs on damaged or worn-out equipment and components.
• Assist mechanics and maintenance personnel in equipment repair and modification.
• Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, alignment, and defects.
• Perform grinding, cutting, drilling, and other metalworking activities as required.
• Equipment & Tools
• Operate and maintain welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, and other fabrication tools.
• Ensure welding equipment and tools are in good working condition.
• Report defective tools, equipment, and materials to the supervisor.
• Safety & Compliance
• Follow company safety policies, welding procedures, and applicable occupational safety requirements.
• Properly use required PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety shoes, protective clothing, and eye/face protection.
• Ensure proper housekeeping and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Follow hot-work permit procedures and other safety requirements before starting welding activities.
• Take appropriate precautions when working near flammable materials, machinery, tanks, or production areas.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Welding Technology, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), or a related technical/vocational course.
• NC II in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or equivalent certification is an advantage.
• At least 1–2 years of relevant welding experience, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, construction, or plant operations.
