Welder

As a Welder Fabricator at Building Blocks Facades (BBF), you are where our facade systems start to take physical shape. You fabricate and assemble the steel and aluminum frames, plates, and connections that support our GFRC, UHPC, and architectural glass panels on buildings across the country.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience across multiple welding processes, and a habit of getting it right the first time. You will work from shop drawings and blueprints with mild steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel, and aluminum, using a range of tools and machinery to complete work safely, accurately, and on schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Welding and Fabrication

■ Join metal components using MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) processes, selecting the right process and settings for each material and joint.

■ Fabricate frames, plates, embeds, and connection hardware to specifications, shop drawings, and blueprints.

■ Cut material to size with plasma cutting equipment and band saws, and form components with a hydraulic press.

■ Grind, fit, and finish welds and assemblies using hand and power tools.

Quality and Accuracy

■ Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols, and raise questions before cutting or welding.

■ Measure and inspect completed work to confirm dimensions, weld quality, and fit meet specifications.

■ Identify and correct defects, and document or escalate issues to the supervisor or QC team.

Safety and Shop Standards

■ Rig and move materials safely using approved lifting equipment and practices.

■ Wear required PPE and follow all safety protocols, including hot work, ventilation, and machine guarding.

■ Keep the work area clean and organized, and perform basic upkeep on welding equipment and tools.

Teamwork

■ Coordinate with production, mold shop, and QC teammates to meet production goals and deadlines.

■ Share knowledge with less experienced team members and support continuous improvement in shop processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

■ 1+ years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience in a production or structural setting.

■ Working proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.

■ Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.

■ Experience with plasma cutters, band saws, grinders, and common shop power tools.

■ Accurate measuring skills using tape measures, squares, and levels.

■ Commitment to safe work practices and consistent PPE use.

Preferred

■ AWS certifications.

■ Experience welding aluminum and stainless steel.

■ Experience with hydraulic press operation, rigging, or forklift / overhead crane use.

■ Background in architectural, precast, or construction-related manufacturing.

■ High school diploma, GED, or trade school welding program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

■ Work on a manufacturing shop floor with exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, noise, and UV light; required PPE is provided.

■ Stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.

■ Lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted, and heavier loads with equipment or team lifts.

■ Work in warehouse shop conditions, including Florida heat and humidity.

■ Work overtime or adjusted hours when production schedules require it.
