Trevi Group is seeking an experienced Welder to join our team supporting the delivery of major geotechnical and construction works on the Lihir Project in Papua New Guinea.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the for the fabrication, modification, structural repair, and maintenance of heavy-duty foundation engineering equipment, tooling, and structural components.

The candidate may spend a couple of months with Trevi Philippines and later will be mobilized to Lihir Island in Papua New Guinea.

This role requires deep technical expertise in industrial machinery, familiarity with global electrical compliance standards, and the flexibility to support overseas equipment mobilization.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality structural welding using SMAW(Stick), GMAW(MIG), and FCAW (Flux-cored) techniques on heavy-gauge carbon steel and alloy components.
• Fabricate and assemble custom geotechnical drilling tools, bucket teeth, auger flights, casing joints, and specialty foundations infrastructure from technical drawings.
• Read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols to plan layout and execution sequences.
• Conduct structural repairs and hardfacing/wear-protection overlay on heavy-duty equipment subjected to extreme abrasive ground environment.
• Conduct self-inspections of weld profiles, perform basic Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) prep, and cooperate with international third-party inspectors to secure structural certifications.
• Deep understanding of the properties, pre-heating, and post-heating requirements of heavy structural steels and high-wear alloy materials.

Qualifications and Experience

• Valid welder qualifications/certifications for multi-position heavy-gauge welding.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years proven experience as a welder/fabricator in heavy industry, ideally within foundation engineering, mining, marine construction, or heavy plant environments.
• Expert command of workshop equipment, including heavy-duty cutting torches, plasma cutters, arc-gouging units, large angle grinders, and magnetic drills.
• Willingness to work in a high-activity industrial workshop setting with exposure to heat, noise, and fumes (using proper PPE/extraction).
• Willingness to travel and accept rotational or long-term field assignments at international project sites.
• Ability to work in demanding outdoor environments (varying weather conditions, muddy foundation sites) and lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Experience: Mining, deep foundations, ground engineering, piling, diaphragm walls, drilling, grouting, earth retention systems, or large-scale infrastructure projects and ex-abroad.
