Smart Laser & Manufacturing in Forney, TX is hiring a Shop Welder for our fabrication team.

Job Description
Responsible for fitting, welding, and fabricating precision metal components according to blueprints and fabrication drawings. This position ensures quality welds, consistent production, and safe operation in a fast-paced shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on carbon steel and TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum.
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
• Fit, tack, and assemble parts according to layout and specifications.
• Inspect and verify weld quality, dimensions, and appearance to meet company and customer standards.
• Set up and maintain welding equipment; ensure correct gas, wire, and filler materials are used.
• Safely operate hand tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment.
• Work collaboratively with other welders and fabricators to maintain efficient workflow and project deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required PPE.

Qualifications

• Proficient in MIG (GMAW) carbon steel welding and TIG (GTAW) stainless and aluminum welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols accurately.
• Strong attention to detail, quality, and consistency.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively in English for safety and work instructions.
• Welding certifications a plus but not required.
• A hands-on welding test will be conducted during the interview process.

Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
