What You’ll Do:

As a Welder, you’ll be involved in a range of challenging and rewarding tasks, including:

• Performing SMAW welding activities in all positions (flat, vertical, and overhead).
• Climbing ladders and scaffolds, traversing gangways, and working at heights up to 40 feet.
• Lifting and carrying heavy tools and equipment (up to 120 lbs).
• Using cutting torches, welding machines, and other essential tools to complete projects with precision.
• Repairing and maintaining marine vessels in a shipyard environment, including confined spaces and challenging conditions.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and templates.
• Operating equipment such as forklifts, hand grinders, and chain hoists.

Essential Physical Functions:

• Crawling, kneeling, bending, and working in awkward positions for extended periods.
• Swinging 16-lb sledgehammers, pulling chain hoists, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
• Balancing on uneven or slick surfaces and negotiating gangways at varying heights.

Tools You’ll Use:

• Welding machines, torches, and hoods.
• Hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and socket sets.
• Forklifts, cherry pickers, and air tools.
• Chain hoists, come-a-longs, and bench grinders.
