What they need
Build gear that matters. Enjoy life beyond the workshop.
Looking for practical, hands-on work, a team you can rely on and time to enjoy life outside the workshop?
At Thompson Longhorn, we design and manufacture Australian-made livestock handling equipment that helps improve workplace safety, animal welfare and cattle handling. We’re an established, family-owned manufacturer, and we’re looking for people who take pride in what they build.
Trade qualified or experienced on the tools? We’re interested in both. You don’t need a trade certificate to be considered. Practical experience, reliability and a willingness to learn matter to us.
What’s in it for you?
- Time for life outside work: A compressed working week with Friday afternoons off.
- A long-term opportunity: Full-time, permanent employment with an established Australian manufacturer making equipment used across the livestock industry.
- Pay that recognises your capability: Negotiable remuneration based on your skills and experience.
- Support to build your skills: On-the-job training in our products, equipment and manufacturing processes, with a team that values collaboration and practical problem-solving.
- The regional lifestyle: Work in Goomburra, near Warwick, with country surroundings and welcoming regional communities close by.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll help manufacture livestock handling equipment and components, working alongside our workshop team to:
- Weld and fabricate steel components, using drawings, jigs and job instructions.
- Measure, cut, fit and assemble parts accurately.
- Produce neat, consistent work and prepare completed components for the next stage of production.
- Keep your workspace safe and organised, working with the team to meet quality standards and production targets.
We’ll help you get familiar with our products and processes. You’ll bring a practical approach and a commitment to doing the job properly.
What you’ll bring
- Some welding, fabrication, workshop, mechanical or similar hands-on experience.
- The ability to measure accurately, follow instructions and take pride in your workmanship.
- Reliability, a safety-first attitude and the ability to work well with others.
- A willingness to learn, take feedback and keep improving.
- A current forklift licence — essential.
Highly regarded, but not essential: MIG welding, production fabrication, experience using jigs, basic drawing-reading skills or a relevant trade qualification.
Experience in agriculture, machinery or other manufacturing environments is also welcome.
A note about the location
This is an onsite workshop role in Goomburra, Queensland, near Warwick. You’ll need to be able to reliably travel to our workshop each workday.
Ready to build your future with us?
Apply through SEEK with your resume. Photos of previous welding, fabrication or other hands-on work are welcome, but not required.
