Welder - Structural

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Welder - Structural to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing precise welding tasks on structural steel components, ensuring all projects meet strict quality and safety standards. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of complex construction and fabrication projects, supporting our commitment to delivering durable, high-quality metal structures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction sites and fabrication shops, utilizing advanced welding techniques and mechanical knowledge to bring designs to life with accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to determine welding specifications and procedures.
• Perform welding operations using various techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
• Prepare metal materials such as sheet metal, structural steel, and other metal components for welding by measuring with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Use power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal parts prior to welding.
• Ensure all welds are structurally sound by inspecting weld quality through visual checks and measuring with calipers or micrometers; adhere strictly to safety protocols throughout all tasks.
• Collaborate with team members on construction sites or fabrication shops to assemble structures accurately according to technical drawings and shop math calculations.
• Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials while following safety guidelines at all times.

Requirements

• Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes.
• Proficiency in various welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical diagrams accurately.
• Experience working with sheet metal fabrication, structural steel components, and metal materials in a shop or construction environment.
• Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures for precise measurements.
• Mechanical knowledge of fabrication tools, power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and assembly techniques.
• Knowledge of safety protocols specific to welding operations and construction sites; commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Basic math skills including shop math for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
• Strong mechanical blueprint interpretation skills combined with attention to detail for quality assurance.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
