Welder - Structural

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Welder to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing precise welding and fabrication of structural metal components used in construction and industrial projects. Your expertise will ensure that all welds meet rigorous safety standards and quality specifications, contributing to the successful completion of large-scale projects. Duties

• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding requirements and procedures
• Perform welding operations using various techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) to join structural steel, sheet metal, and other metal materials
• Measure and mark metal components accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication
• Operate power tools, plasma cutters, and gas cutting equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling metal parts in accordance with specifications
• Use hand tools and mechanical knowledge to prepare surfaces for welding, including grinding, cleaning, and fitting parts together
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols, OSHA standards, AWS (American Welding Society) standards, and company policies during all phases of fabrication and welding activities
• Conduct quality inspections of welds using measuring instruments and visual checks to verify compliance with technical specifications and safety standards
• Assemble fabricated components on-site or in the shop environment, ensuring proper fit-up and structural integrity throughout the process

Skills

• Extensive construction site experience with a strong understanding of construction processes and safety practices
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints for accurate fabrication
• Skilled in multiple welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, with certification preferred
• Ability to operate machining tools, plasma cutters, hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication equipment efficiently
• Knowledge of metal fabrication, metal materials handling, and structural steel assembly
• Experience working with cranes or lifting equipment for moving heavy materials safely on-site or in the shop
• Strong mechanical knowledge combined with precision measurement skills using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments and shop math
• Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and adherence to OSHA regulations
• Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for precise fabrication tasks
• Mechanical fabrication experience within a manufacturing or construction environment is highly desirable

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
