Welder - Structural

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for welding and assembling large metal structures with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise in various welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and mechanical fabrication will ensure the delivery of high-quality, durable structures that meet project specifications. Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding requirements and procedures
• Perform welding using various techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards
• Fabricate, assemble, and weld structural steel components on construction sites or in shop environments using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
• Measure materials accurately with shop math skills to ensure precise cuts and fits before welding or assembly
• Use measuring instruments and mechanical knowledge to verify dimensions, alignments, and tolerances during fabrication processes
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering strictly to safety protocols, including proper handling of metal materials, welding equipment, and power tools
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while ensuring quality control through inspection of welds and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices

Experience

• Proven construction site experience with a strong background in structural steel fabrication and welding operations
• Hands-on experience with crane operation for lifting heavy materials during assembly processes is preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting mechanical blueprints and technical drawings for fabrication purposes
• Familiarity with shop math, metal materials, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly techniques
• Practical knowledge of various welding methods including FCAW, MIG welding, TIG welding, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
• Experience working in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to machining, plasma cutting, and the use of hand tools and power tools
• Understanding of safety protocols specific to construction sites and metal fabrication environments is essential
