Welder/Fabricator

Overview

AIS, LLC in Berlin is a leading manufacturer of automated industrial stainless-steel washers, ovens, conveyors, and automatic painting systems across North America. We are seeking a full or part-time stainless-steel MIG welder/fabricator and have multiple openings to fill. We are looking for a candidate who is hard-working, dependable, experienced, punctual, and takes pride in their work. Applicants must be proficient in MIG welding, use of general tools, and medium-duty assembly work. This is an ideal position for the welder who doesn’t like to stand in one place all day doing repetitive work.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine project requirements.
• Perform various welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas)
• Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and shop math skills to ensure precise fabrication and assembly of metal components.
• Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment to cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal and other metal materials.
• Fabricate metal structures on the shop floor or construction site, ensuring adherence to safety protocols at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment while documenting work progress through shift reports and quality logs.

Requirements

• Proven experience working on construction sites or fabrication shops with a strong understanding of mechanical fabrication processes.
• Proficiency in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, with knowledge of AWS standards.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and interpret mechanical blueprints confidently.
• Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, shop math, and measuring tapes for precise fabrication work.
• Experience operating power tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Mechanical knowledge related to metal fabrication processes including sheet metal fabrication and structural steel assembly.
• Familiarity with safety protocols relevant to welding environments and construction sites; adherence is mandatory.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for complex projects.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced settings while maintaining high-quality standards.
