Welder/Fabricator

About the Role

DSM Demolition Limited is looking for an experienced Plant Welder to join our team, working primarily at Heavy Industrial Plant. This is a hands on role suited to an experienced welder/fabricator with a strong understanding of heavy plant, machinery and industrial environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, repair, modification and fabrication of plant and equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out welding, fabrication and repair work on heavy plant and industrial equipment.
• Prepare plant and components for repair, modification or fabrication.
• Undertake hot and cold cutting using appropriate equipment and methods.
• Carry out fabrication and structural steelwork as required.
• Repair, strengthen and modify plant attachments and components.
• Work from drawings, measurements and instructions where required.
• Use welding equipment safely and effectively, including MIG/MAG and MMA processes where appropriate.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the required standard.
• Identify defects, wear and damage and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Maintain welding equipment, tools and the work area in a safe and serviceable condition.
• Work closely with the Plant, Workshop and Operations teams to minimise equipment downtime.
• Follow all DSM and site-specific health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
• Complete all necessary permits, inspections and documentation associated with the work.
• Support the wider operational team with plant and fabrication requirements when required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and reliable individual who has:

• Proven experience as a Plant Welder / Welder Fabricator, ideally within demolition, construction, quarrying, heavy engineering or a similar environment.
• Strong practical experience working on heavy plant and machinery.
• Competence in hot and cold cutting techniques.
• Good fabrication and welding skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• A strong understanding of safe working practices within an industrial environment.
• Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
• A flexible and proactive approach to problem solving.
• The ability to work safely around operational plant and machinery.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant welding/fabrication qualifications.
• Welding coded to relevant standards where required.
• Experience working on excavators, demolition plant, attachments and heavy machinery.
• Experience with oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting and other industrial cutting equipment.
• Relevant site safety qualifications.
• Experience working within demolition or heavy industrial environments.

Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
