Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to ensure accurate assembly and welding of metal components.
• Perform welding using various techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) according to AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
• Fabricate metal parts and structures by cutting, shaping, bending, and assembling sheet metal, ductwork, and other metal materials using power tools, press brake machines, plasma cutters, and machining equipment.
• Measure dimensions accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely to assemble components, perform welding repairs, or modify parts as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering strictly to safety protocols and OSHA regulations during all phases of fabrication and welding activities.
• Collaborate with team members on construction site projects or within fabrication shops to meet project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

Skills

• Proficiency in multiple welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
• Strong ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, and interpret ASME codes & standards.
• Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision tools for accurate fabrication.
• Mechanical knowledge related to assembly processes, machining operations, ductwork installation, soldering, plasma cutting, press brake operation, and sheet metal fabrication.
• Familiarity with safety protocols specific to welding shops and construction sites; committed to maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
• Ability to utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for cutting, shaping, welding, and assembly tasks.
• Good understanding of shop math principles necessary for precise measurements and calculations during fabrication projects.
• Experience working with various metal materials including steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and sheet metal components.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for complex fabrication tasks; experience with mechanical blueprint interpretation is a plus.
• Knowledge of ASME codes & standards relevant to pressure vessels or structural steel fabrication is desirable.
