Position Overview:

As a Metal Welder/Fabricator, you must possess a high level of knowledge and experience in working with various welding equipment and various metals with minimal supervision. You will also work as a team member with other welders, machinists, CNC Programmers and other industrial manufacturing technicians in completing large bulk orders and/or time sensitive projects. You must have excellent verbal and written English skills when communicating with team members and customers. In addition, your other responsibilities are:

· Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications

· Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW)

· Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment

· Operate brazing and soldering equipment

· Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines

· Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers

· Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment as an asset

· Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment to fabricate products such as ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, eavestroughs, partition frames, air and heat ducts, material handling systems, roof decking and sheet metal buildings

· Install sheet metal products according to specifications and codes as an asset

· Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces

· Compute dimensions, plan layout and determine method and sequence of operations during the manufacturing process

· Inspect product quality to ensure conformance to specifications

Position Requirements:

• Completion of a two – three-year college program or equivalent in a specialized welding trades program

• Minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience as a metal welder/fabricator in custom fabrication

• Minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience in working with various welding techniques:

• Gas welding, ARC welding, shielded metal ARC welding, fusion welding, spot welding, butt or steam resistance welding machine, brazing machine, gas tungsten, etc.

• Minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience in working with different types of metals that consist of:

• Stainless steel, non-metallic materials, aluminum alloys, steel, iron and heavy metals, magnesium alloys, composite materials and non-ferrous materials

• Fluency in verbal and written English

• Must be able to carry and/or lift up to 80 lbs

• Ability to perform tasks/assignments with minimal supervision

Salary, hours of work and location:

$32 - $34 per hour (depending on experience), 40 hours per week, Delta, BC area
