Welder/Fabricator

It is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing steel structures, machinery, pressure vessels, pipelines, and industrial equipment. This role requires strong welding and fabrication skills, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Fabricate, assemble, and repair steel structures, frames, tanks, and industrial equipment.
• Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fitting tasks using various tools and equipment.
• Conduct maintenance, repairs, and modifications on mechanical plant and equipment.
• Measure, mark, cut, shape, and fit metal components accurately.
• Operate workshop machinery and hand tools safely.
• Perform MIG, TIG, stick welding, and other welding processes as required.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Work with cranes, lifting equipment, and rigging systems when required.
• Identify hazards and follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organised condition.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Trade qualification as a Boilermaker/Welder or equivalent.
• Proven experience in metal fabrication and welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques and industrial equipment.
• Competent use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in heavy industrial, mining, construction, or manufacturing environments.
• Welding tickets and relevant industry certifications.
• Experience with pressure vessels, structural steel, or mechanical installations.
• Current driver’s licence and relevant site inductions.

Pay: $38.00 – $40.00 per hour
