Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Welder/Mechanic to join our dynamic fabrication and maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding, mechanical repairs, and fabrications on various metal materials and components. Your expertise will ensure the safety, durability, and precision of our projects, contributing to the seamless operation of our facilities. Duties

• Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to guide welding and assembly tasks
• Perform various welding processes including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) according to AWS (American Welding Society) standards
• Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math to ensure precise measurements and fit-up of metal components
• Fabricate, cut, and assemble metal structures using plasma cutters, power tools, hand tools, and machining equipment
• Conduct routine inspections of heavy equipment and fabricated parts with calipers, measuring instruments, and visual assessments to ensure quality standards are met
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols on construction sites and in fabrication shops to maintain a safe working environment
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment used in mining, industrial or mechanical operations

Skills

• Extensive construction site experience with knowledge of safety procedures and hazard mitigation
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints for fabrication and assembly tasks
• Strong understanding of metal materials including sheet metal, structural steel, and other metal alloys used in fabrication projects
• Skilled in multiple welding techniques: MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW; with a solid understanding of AWS standards for weld quality
• Ability to operate measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise fabrication work
• Experience with plasma cutting, machining, assembly processes, and the use of power tools and hand tools in a fabrication environment
• Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and mechanical fabrication processes
• Familiarity with crane operation or working around cranes is a plus but not mandatory
• Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence while working on construction sites or in fabrication shops
