About the Position
Twisted Steel Welding Services is seeking a highly experienced, motivated, and dependable Welding & Fabrication Foreman to lead our custom fabrication and welding projects.
We specialize in residential and commercial custom metal fabrication, including railings, gates, awnings, metal cabinet doors, structural components, and specialty projects. We also provide mobile welding services for equipment repairs, breakdowns, and on-site welding needs.
We are looking for an individual who brings strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to take a project from concept or blueprint through completion with minimal supervision.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can effectively manage projects, direct team members, troubleshoot challenges, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
We need someone who can lead the work, not someone who needs to be told every step of the process.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Leadership
- Take ownership of assigned fabrication and welding projects from start to finish.
- Review blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop an effective plan of execution.
- Plan and coordinate project workflow, materials, equipment, manpower, and timelines.
- Delegate tasks to welders and fabricators based on their skills and project requirements.
- Lead and supervise employees while maintaining productivity, accountability, and quality.
- Monitor project progress and ensure deadlines are met.
- Identify potential issues early and develop practical solutions without requiring constant direction.
- Communicate project updates, material needs, and major concerns to ownership.
- Coordinate shop fabrication and field installation activities as needed.
Welding & Custom Fabrication
- Perform and oversee high-quality custom metal fabrication for residential and commercial projects.
- Read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, fabrication drawings, and specifications.
- Independently determine proper measurements, layouts, cutting, fitting, assembly, and welding procedures.
- Perform and supervise MIG, TIG, and stick welding as required.
- Ensure fabricated products meet project specifications, quality expectations, and applicable safety requirements.
- Oversee installation of custom metalwork, including railings, gates, awnings, and other specialty projects.
- Lead mobile welding services, equipment repairs, and on-site breakdown work when needed.
- Maintain proper use and care of shop equipment, tools, and company vehicles.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Extensive professional experience in welding and custom metal fabrication.
- Previous experience leading projects, supervising employees, or serving in a foreman/lead fabricator role.
- Advanced ability to read, interpret, and execute projects from blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, and material selection.
- Ability to independently plan, organize, and complete complex fabrication projects.
- Experience coordinating manpower, materials, and project schedules.
- Excellent troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to hold team members accountable while maintaining a productive, respectful work environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Strong understanding of shop and job-site safety practices.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Preferred:
- Experience with architectural and ornamental metal fabrication.
- Experience with commercial fabrication and structural steel.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience overseeing field installations and mobile welding operations.
- Familiarity with material takeoffs, estimating, and job costing.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a true leader and experienced craftsman who takes pride in their work and can confidently manage projects without constant oversight.
The ideal candidate:
- Takes initiative: Sees what needs to be done and takes action without waiting for instructions.
- Owns their projects: Accepts responsibility for planning, execution, quality, and completion.
- Leads by example: Is willing to work alongside the crew and set the standard for productivity and craftsmanship.
- Solves problems: Can evaluate challenges, make informed decisions, and keep projects moving forward.

Ownership will remain available for major decisions, questions, and support; however, the right candidate should possess the experience and judgment necessary to manage daily operations, direct employees, and overcome routine challenges without constant assistance.
We are looking for someone who can be trusted to represent our company professionally, maintain quality standards, and take responsibility for the success of their assigned projects.
